Going the other direction — turning an old shower stall into a real bathtub — is common for families with small kids. It means reframing the space, running a tub drain and filler, and tiling a proper surround. If your home has no tub at all, adding one can help resale too.

Freestanding or alcove — how do I choose?
Space and budget decide. Freestanding needs room around it and a floor-mounted filler; alcove fits a standard five-foot opening and costs less to install. We’ll measure and price both.
Can a freestanding tub replace my old alcove tub?
